35 Year Old Comedian Mel Moon Joins Exit
STRICKEN mum-of-two Mel Moon is the youngest member of a right-to-die “suicide club” — at the age of 35.
She has a rare immune system condition that could leave her dying in agony and admitted she has drawn up a plan to kill herself peacefully.
She told The Sun: “I’d hope my children would understand that, should it come to it, I died to spare them as much as to spare myself.”
Stand-up comic Mel — whose pals include TV’s Jason Manford — signed up to Exit International’s website after being diagnosed with Polyglandular Failure in February.
It campaigns for euthanasia and assisted suicide to be legalised and is run by Australian Dr Philip Nitschke — dubbed Dr Death by critics.
An office opened here when UK membership topped 1,000. They do not usually accept members under 50.
Mel, of West Sussex, said: “Right now I don’t want to die but I’m prepared. I have a plan — it could take a month to get everything in place — but I can’t tell anyone because you could be arrested.”
Husband Kris, 29, said: “I support Mel in everything she does and believe wholeheartedly in the process.”
