Tribute to Novelist, Biographer & Public Intellectual Dr Peter Corris
The world is a poorer place today – 30 August 2018 – after hearing of the death of Dr Peter Corris.
A respected novelist, columnist and public intellectual in Australia, Peter was also the biographer of Exit Founder, Dr Philip Nitschke.
In 2013, Philip and Peter collaborated on a year long writing project. The result was Philip’s autobiography, Damned If I Do, published by Melbourne University Press.
Peter was also a long time member of Exit international and a fervent believer in one’s right to die peacefully at a time of one’s choosing.
A lifelong sufferer of Diabetes Type 1, Peter understood the importance of a good life and the equal importance of being able to control when and how that life ends.
Philip Nitschke is enormously saddened by Peter’s death. He says he feels humbled and privileged to have had him write his autobiography.
